Membership
We have “Members” who support Abnormal in spirit and by attending one or more of our Events, and by paying $100 in Annual Dues. In exchange for the Dues, our Members receive absolutely nothing! Well, they get the satisfaction of knowing that their dues make it possible for us to help others in need in our community. Our goal is to have 500 Members each paying $100 in Annual Dues, raising $50,000 toward our annual giving ability.
Black Tie
Our annual “Black Tie” event is typically abnormal! We have all been to Charity Black Tie events where patrons pay big money to enjoy steak and lobster, champagne, an open bar, and a great band, all of which come out of the net proceeds available to the charity. We do it differently! We have literally served peanut butter and jelly on paper plates to our attendees in jeans and golf shirts, pokng fun at the excesses of some charity events. All in attendance enjoyed it like chateaubriand, knowing that the savings allowed us to pay someone’s rent, utilities, or medical bills. And while we don’t have a vodka fountain for iced martinis, it doesn’t seem to lessen the fun had by all at our “Black Tie” event!!! Golf Tournament
On the last Monday of September, we have a charity golf tournament unlike any other!!! One of the differences is that we limit the field and encourage fast play, often completing the round in 4 hours!!! The Abnormality doesn’t stop there. Most of our 18 holes have a unique challenge, like the “Wood wood” hole where players tee off with 30 year- old persimmon head drivers, or a 1 club hole where the players play the entire hole with one club! Poker Tournament
Each winter we have been hosting a Poker Tournament for the past 6 years. The event draws a different, younger, new patron, and provides a fun evening of poker, fellowship, raising funds for Abnormal, and the chance for our Winners to take home a little loot…but, of course, since we’re Abnormal, we don’t want them taking it all home. We want to keep most of it for our beneficiaries!!! Click here for more information.
Major Donors
Finally, in addition to the above initiatives that range from $60 (the Poker Tournament) to $240 (our golf event entry donation), we look to those with the ability to give more in a Major Donor Program. We look to individuals, businesses, and Trusts to help us with donations of $5,000, $10,000, or even $25,000.
